Vitamin C & Zinc supplements
Do they work?
Both of these can help with your immunity and can also help wounds to heal. These are often found in cold and flu medications that you would buy such as lozenges. Whilst vitamin C and zinc does appear to prevent a cold in most people, it can help reduce the length and severity of a cold and gives a boost to your immune system.
You are best to try and obtain these directly from foods and often foods high in antioxidants are high in one of these too or you can take supplements. Foods that are high in these vitamins are citrus fruits, kiwis, red and green peppers, broccoli, strawberries, cashews, baked beans, chickpeas and oysters.
If you feel a cold starting then try a boost with these foods combined with antioxidant foods, probiotic drinks and / or natural yogurt and it might help keep the cold at bay.
